When I was younger, I used to want people to like me.
I would do whatever I could to be liked. This might be through praising or complimenting another person. I would have done this, and I might not even have meant it! Now when I look back, I did it to be accepted.
These days I might say a nice thing about someone, but it's genuine. I just do it and don't expect anything in return... don't need it, like I used too.
If people like me, then great. If they don't, then that's fine also.
I think dropping the need to be liked can be very liberating.
It can enable one to take more risks.

Never had that issue! ;-)
